The modern necktie traces its origins back to the 17th century, when Croatian mercenaries serving the French king wore knotted cloths around their necks. The French called it the “cravate”<\/strong>, inspired by the word Croates<\/em> (Croatians). Over time, that simple gesture evolved into a symbol of masculine elegance and sophistication<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

By the 19th century, the tie had taken on its elongated modern shape. Its highest expression of craftsmanship came with the creation of the seven-fold tie<\/strong>. Originally, it was made from a single piece of silk<\/strong>, folded onto itself seven times<\/strong>, with no interlining or reinforcement<\/strong>. This intricate folding gave the tie structure, weight, and luxurious presence\u2014all without stitching in extra material.<\/p>\n
